One day, Gandalf finds her in the Barrow-Downs, working on a quest she accepted from one of the women in the town of Bree. He asks her to join Thorin, Son of Thrain, Son of Thror, on a mission to reclaim the the Lonely Mountain from the dragon, Smaug. After thinking on it, she agrees to go along with him, despite the fact she desperately doesn't want the dwarves to find out who she really is. After all, would any dwarf ever accept a dragon?
