My back hits the nearest wall, as he pushes me back and cages me in his arm. I can smell his intoxicating cologne as he leans closer and whispers, "That was a very bad move, doctor. When I say something, I expect it to be obeyed. So what were you thinking?" I do the only thing that makes sense to me at the time. I deny it. "I don't know what you're talking about." He smirks, the vein bobbing on his forehead, dangerously. "I won't run again." I say knowing that it's a lie. He has kept me against my will, and I will bolt the first chance I have. He knows it as well as I do. "You and I both know you'll run just as I loosen my grip, doctor, so here's what will happen if you do." I see red dots appear on him, my best friend and only family, Attorney General James Prescott. Tears well up in my eyes as I turn to the man in front of me. My shivering hands crawl up his chest as I beg. "Please- he isn't involved in this. Let him go." He seems unaffected. Cold. Calculative. "Let's make a deal. You run, defy me, or so much as breathe without my permission, I'll blow your cupcakes brains. Deal?" "Deal" I manage a muffled whisper. 🥀 Juniper Darlington is a saviour. A surgeon.
