It's been months ever since the apocalypse had started. Possibly a year. Nobody saw this infection coming. It started off as cancer; the sickness becoming more common. But this was a different type of cancer. People with this sickness had their skin become weak and almost rotting. Their skin would peel off more easier. This was just the first stage. The second stage would be high fever. It was strange that this wasn't the first stage, since this wasn't exactly a "Zombie" infection. Next, the victims eyes would blurr out. The color would turn grey, then start too fade out as if blind. Rather than white, it would become a light red color. Their teeth seemed to sharpen. Then the mutation would happen. As mentioned before: This wasn't a zombie infection. They would turn into horrible and disgusting creatures.
There are different types of these creatures, each one of them having different capabilities.
As for now, many are trying to survive. It's hard to say how many are alive, but it's for sure that these creatures are over populating the human race. Jessi and her German Shepherd: Loki, have been on the run for a while ever since her family had died. They've traveled for months before running into trouble. Jessi loses consciousness, a group of Stalkers ganging up on her. That is, until four men decide to save her.

Escaping the Monster's Embrace (OLD BEING REWRITTEN )
(Currently being rewritten under a new name The Claimed) Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Six months went by before the government, that was un-tainted by this vile race began to take action into their own hands contacting other countries and militaries causing the great war to happen, sending both my parents off to fight for our rights. Only one of them came back, two months was the longest we lasted before we were overpowered by them. Six years of living in this dysfunctional environment and my hatred had never dwindled. Back by popular request! The 2017 rough draft of The Virus Within! (Caution: Contains massive plotholes that were fixed in the polished The Virus Within Series. Grammar issues are present, particularly missing commas.) What do you do when you are one of the infected? The virus in my blood is trying to steal my humanity. It alters my very thoughts and reactions. It taunts me by tempting me with desires that it planted in my brain. These bloodthirsty desires would lead to my demise if I ever gave in. I have more in common with the zombies than with humans at this point. Even the fallen zombies accept me as one of their own. Blood is required to retain my grip on sanity, but the sweet-smelling blood from humans is a short path to madness. Human blood is to be avoided at all costs. Humankind around the world was driven close to extinction by the sudden appearance of the zombies, yet small groups of survivors constantly manage to appear and put my control to the test. -------------------------- This is a standalone zombie book. It has nothing to do with A Different Virus. I wanted to try a book with an easily irritated main character and a nutcase secondary character. This book has a slightly darker outlook at the beginning than my usual stories, but it has some humor further along.
