The shock of the incident finally gains her attention from her crumbling family. Yet that isn't enough to bring them together again. Her school life seems to be getting worse and worse as bullying intensifies and new students threaten to destroy the one constant in her life and her chances at a good education to escape from the filth of Applegrove High.
