Meet Clancy.
Clancy Coltrane Griffith has never had a serious relationship. All of his were ephemeral emotions, fleeting moments, quick kisses and hugs that meant nothing. He was much more interested in basketball. More so than girls, or even his grades. But when his English grade is suffering and his teacher gets concerned, she suggests that he gets a tutor. And by "suggests", Ms. Isodore basically shoved the girl with the best English grade in the tenth grade at him. Enter Cressida Maple Majorie, a shy, silent, softspoken bookworm. She never speaks up, ever. Clancy dreads the upcoming sessions.
But Cressida Maple Majorie might be able to change Clancy's view of the world, and especially his view of her. Cressida will lead him through battles, through journeys - all by talking about her love for books.
And even as Clancy's English grade starts to rise . . . he finds that he doesn't want to stop talking to Cressida, the girl who changed his world and turned it right side up. And as he learns - it is near impossible to change someone else without being changed yourself.
