"Suddenly, her world went black. As she knew it would. A room appeared, shadowed and balmy, light trickling in through a large window covered by gauzy white curtains. She watched as a pair of figures stumbled in the door, quickly closing it behind them. The man pushed the girl against the closed door and slammed his lips to hers, groaning. The girl twined her fingers in his glossy black curls and drew him closer, smirking into the heated kiss. Adriel watched a third person in the scene for two. But the figures were familiar. Their lustrous black hair, the girl's creamy, lightly tanned skin, and the man's liquid honey colored eyes. As she looked on, Azrael pushed her towards the bed and climbed atop her smiling crookedly, to attack her neck with his gorgeously plump lips. He was ethereally beautiful and infinitely dangerous. Adriel focused on the two figures, studying them intently for flaws. She didn't have to search far. As she looked closer, Azrael was found wanting. The tiny notch in his left eyebrow, a negligible cut he had received with a training sword when they were children, was missing. The vision cracked and wasted around her. The figures went up in flames, the room disappearing in an instant with a puff of smoke. She was once again in the lengthy marble hallway, gaping into a man's face, inches from her own." Adriel is a fallen angel, one of the hundreds in the legions of Hell, a personal lieutenant to the seven Princes. She provides them sustenance, searching out their betrayers so they can feast on their souls. As far as the Fallen go, she is comparatively well-off. But what happens when a face from the past shows itself in Hell? And what if it brings along revelations that shake her to the core?

When Sierra is brought under the mountain by the Attors after being the sole survivor of her village, she believes it to be pure bad karma. Survival is nearly impossible when you're the only mortal among creatures that despise your kind and see you as nothing more than entertainment. Her chances of escaping Amarantha's mountain seem nonexistent. But when you've lost everything that once mattered, you have a choice: let it destroy you, or turn it into something greater. Sierra seizes her chance to escape-even if it means risking her own life-refusing to be anyone's plaything, least of all a Doll. Then she encounters Rhysand, a mysterious fae who always appears at Amarantha's side. He torments her, tests her, and seems just as dangerous as the mountain itself. Yet there's something in his actions that doesn't quite add up-why does he keep her secret to himself when he's supposed to deliver it to Amarantha? In a world of deceit, danger, and impossible choices, survival might mean trusting the one who seems most untrustworthy.
