Book 1 of the Hunter Series

A family with hunter blood running through their bodies. This family kills any mythical creature they come across, and they are trained to kill and show no emotions towards the enemies. At least, that's how hunters used to be.

Hunter's have always had the trouble of killing ever since they got mates that turned out to be the enemy. Some hunter's have had demons, werewolves, vampires, and other mythical creatures as mates. So what happens when every hunter in the world has found a solution to having a 'mate'? Let's just say mythical creatures better beware to what goes bump in the night because there's a new creature coming out into the dark, and they're not afraid of anything. 

What could possibly happen with there being a new cure to getting rid of mates?

"Get off me mutt," I growled while still thrashing. I wasn't going to give up that easily, especially to a werewolf. 

He had me still however when he brought his face closer to my neck. There was no way I was the mate of a mutt, it had to be impossible because I was suppose to be with another hunter to continue the bloodline. 

"Why do you smell like her?" the alpha growled out at me. I threw him a confused look as if I knew what the hell he was talking about. I had no idea who he meant by 'who' and I didn't want to stay to find out either.

I did not want to be his mate any more than he wanted me to be his, but his cocky attitude was getting to me. "Because you are not even a werewolf," he grunted, his black irises shimmering dangerously. "You're a liar," I screamed not caring that I was talking to the most lethal creature in the world. He roared in laughter, the sound of which irritated the hell out of me. Aargh! How I wanted to rip his heart out even as I wanted to glue my body to his and stay there forever, basking in his scent. I was so mad that I wanted to show him how wrong he was. Soon, he would be sorry, he would kneel and beg for my forgiveness. The mental image of him on his knees made my lips twitch with amusement. I started phasing out to my wolf form, and when I stood in all my glory, I prowled and preened to show off my beautiful fur. He laughed even harder. I simply wanted to kill him. Yes, my wolf was small, but it existed. Why the hell wasn't he on his knees then? "As I said, you're not a werewolf," he repeated. Huh, what did he mean by that?

One is that I killed the vampire responsible for those deaths. The second? The new body turned up in the home country of the one man who can ignite my temper faster than anyone else. Just when I think it couldn't get any worse, a simple touch has my demon claiming that he is my mate. Things just got a whole lot more complicated. Tall, curvy, brunette with hazel eyes that change from almost totally green to deep brown depending on her mood, she is the one woman that has me wanting to shake her one moment and kiss her senseless the next. She's the one woman I can never have, and the only one I truly want. But when a body turns up that looks like the bodies from a case of hers, I have no choice but to call her in to help find the killer. On top of that, the touch of her hand on my arm is enough for my demon to start claiming her as my mate. Then as if things weren't already complicated enough, I find out that I have a daughter when her mother is killed and the child's rescuers find me. So now I have to get to know my daughter, convince my mate to accept me, and deal with a demon that has a one track mind about protecting its mate, even though she can look after herself way better than I can. All while tracking down a vampire that thinks I killed her sister and is out for revenge. Piece of cake. Right?

My dream continued the one I'd been having for the past couple of nights. I ran, gasping for breath, through the familiar woods from a dark figure behind me. The faster I tried to run, the slower I seemed to go, until it was like I was running in place. I knew I needed to run. I was terrified of what the figure would do when he caught me. "Mara Leigh," a deep, smooth voice called. It was almost hypnotic. That was new. The figure had never spoke before now. I ran as fast as I could go, eyes searching the forest floor for a big stick or something that I could use to defend myself. "Mara Leigh!" the voice came again, this time more insistent. The forest slowly started to fade and I started to awake to someone shaking my shoulders. "Beau?" I mumbled, turning my head to the side. What's Beau doing in my room this time of night? Why is he shaking me? "Do not call me that name." My eyes flew open as I jumped at the voice from my dream. A face was right in front of mine, and just like the voice, it wasn't Beau. Before I could form a scream, a hand covered my mouth. I tried to bite it but I couldn't get my mouth to open. He's too strong. I started to use my whole body to try to get away, but he crawled on top of me, holding me down. I pulled the hidden knife out from under my pillow and slashed as hard as I could at him, but he just grabbed my wrist and squeezed it until the pain made me drop the knife. Then he grabbed both my hands in one of his and held them over my head. He held me down while I struggled. I grunted and moved and tried to kick and scream, but I only wore myself out. Exhausted, I stopped thrashing and let the tears flow freely down my cheeks. I didn't know what to do, so I just tried to prepare myself for whatever was coming.

Out of theses attacks the families that have hunted these creatures for centuries in secret decide to make themselves know as well becoming there own judge, jury and executioner under the name of the Creature Hunter Association (CHA for short) Enter Katrina (Kat) Lovedock, a member of the Lovedock hunter family one of the best and well known hunter families to ever patrol the streets. Unfortunately, Kat is not technically a member having been disowned after one horrible night that changed her life, in more ways then one. 5 years after that night she still has all her training that her father taught her and uses those skills to hunt down dangerous creatures while also being hunted herself.
