Gray Is A Color Too

Being colorblind is said to allow people to see the world from a different perspective, where the concept of 'normal' doesn't exist. The same can be said for those who experience synesthesia. In and out of doctors' offices and trapped in his room, six-year old Denver suffers from a helicopter mother and an ailment that can't be defined by any doctor. He's gotten used to the superhero paraphernalia, constant attention, and long, agonizing car rides from one state to the next, but on his mother's word, he had never expected to make a friend, especially not from a girl in a tree who seemed to be hiding around every corner.

This Faulkner-esque bildungsroman of a child to a teen who--through tragedy and friendship--discovers that color is more than just a physical attribute lends itself to a story that pulls at both heart and humor. This novel will mostly appeal to fans of John Green's Fault In Our Stars.
