The lights glimmered off the dampening eyes of his shocked audience. Both girls stared at him, with their entire fine, curled, hair sprayed masks and their true colors were like fireworks. Katy swallowed tears, opening her mouth to say something, but he cut her off. “I’m done!” he cried with abandon and then he disappeared in the oblivious mass of dancing teenagers. Maddix was compelled to chase after him, but her feet were like lead. Instead, they were wordless and heavy and stood still in the midst of the dance floor.
