She excels at school because she has often used reading as a form of escape. However, when she becomes involved with a dangerous man, during her senior year of high school, her bright future dims. Drug addiction, sex, murder. This "smart girl" will have to learn how to stand on her own two feet- or end up 6 feet under.
Smart Girl is a coming of age story about the pressures that society places on us- and how we choose to cope with them.
