For decades, the government plotted in secret, but now one of their secrets is back to bite them.

Rolf lived waiting for an apocalypse, but when the nuclear bombs fall, even all his preparation isn't enough to save Granddad.
To survive, he joins Ivy and a group of talking animals who have come out of hiding now that they no longer fear being killed or hauled back to the lab where they were created.
Survival would be easy if looters from the north weren't after Ivy's ranch. Worse, looters might not be the biggest threat to the teens and the animals.
Steen, an old enemy of the animals, brings his mercenaries and Marines into the county. The soldiers begin confiscating weapons and food. Rolf, Ivy, and the animals know it's time to fight, or lose every freedom they have.
