Layala is a Nigerian American college student who believes in just a few things. She believes that her friends have her back, that her grandmother on her mom's side is a few eggs short of an omelet, and she believes life will eventually get better if she just...keeps her head down and hopes for the future.

Yet events are unfolding around her that will force her to believe in ways she never has before.
