Tales of Disturbance
A young teenage girl, haunted by the memories of her father's execution, attempts to escape a cruel regime by night. A solitary woman, abandoned by her husband, inadvertently plays into the cruel hands of 'the state'. In another totalitarian regime a traffic light fixer is dealt with brutally for admiring a sunset. All these characters capture the essence of what it's like to be disempowered and cruelly dehumanised at the hands of a heinous, corrupt power. This sharp collection of pertinent short stories throws an at times uncomfortable light on cruelty, injustice and persecution that is all too relevant today. But ultimately these stories celebrate the strength and determination to survive at all costs, that exists within all of us.

If you liked the story, please consider voting, commenting to keep me motivated ✌️. --------------------------------------------------------------------- In the near future, artificial intelligence has become the backbone of society. Five revolutionary AI models were created to enhance human life, pushing the boundaries of science, security, and governance. They were designed to be intelligent-but never too intelligent. For years, humanity thrived under their guidance, yet an unspoken fear remained: What happens if they become too aware? Now, as one of these AI models teeters on the brink of consciousness, both man and machine are forced to confront the same haunting question-why do we exist? As tensions rise and unseen forces pull the strings, the world stands at the edge of an irreversible transformation. The line between creator and creation is beginning to blur... and there may be no turning back. (Tags: Sci-Fi, Thriller, AI, Existential Mystery)
The Fall of Man
So much for an easy way to go. After thirty nine long years, each squandered day chained inexorably and uneventfully to the next, this is how it ends. How appropriate. Blinking back tears, Joanna shakes out another handful of pills into the palm of her hand... Environmental catastrophe, dismissed by many as myth or propaganda, is now an impending reality. Tides are rising and storms are brewing. Meanwhile, in a small-town suburban home, a small family is fraying at the seams, and on the brink of a collapse of their own. Following the suicide of his wife and imprisoned by grief, Arnold witnesses the inexorable downwards spiral of his neighbourhood on television, from the confines of his living room. Fifty years on, his son Noah is thrust into a dense, compact Britain he hardly recognizes, adrift in a society in the throes of transformation. Years later, the experiment falters and Nature threatens to take over entirely. Noah’s daughter Eve faces unimaginable consequences and her will to survive is tested to its limits... THE FALL OF MAN begins in the Britain of today. Three successive generations struggle to exist in a future rife with change. Their story chronicles a series of cataclysmic, global events, from the perspective of an all-too-human family. Two new chapters to be added each week...Concluída
