Working for a rich family like the Thompson's, knowing that she was just like them once was hard for Amelia. The fact that she now had nothing left after losing her money, her friends, her boyfriend, her parents and her life caused Amelia to have no other choice but to accept her fate as a maid. She made the best of it, she made friends who always managed to put a smile on her face if only for a minute. It all changed for Amelia when a figure of her past slides it's way back into her life so suddenly that she didn't even know real from fake. It was too much for her and it was blamed all on faith. Faith she had to choose from. Ignore it, run and hide again or face it and fix the past. Suddenly the future wasn't so simple and predictable as Amelia thought it was, she couldn't even see into tomorrow. Would she run again or would she take the bull by it's horns and think of it as a second chance of happiness? She couldn't even see happiness in her future, how would she survive?

But something stirs in Russia: Communism. How will a Jew and innocent German girl make it safely in this ever-changing world that is right out their door? NOTE: This is after The Book Thief story (sequel if you will), so there are some spoilers if you haven't seen/read anything about it. However, if you don't care about the movie/book/spoilers, then it still makes for an eye opening, post-WWII fan fiction. The action takes place during the Second World War. But her dreams are shattered the moment she receives an order from the United States government to go to Tunisia and join medical workers from around the world, nursing soldiers. Still, the young woman can't complain too much, because in part her dream job still became a reality, even if it was in unusual and extremely dangerous circumstances for her. But everything changes the moment she meets a gallant soldier in the enemy camp, who tries in every possible way and for unknown reasons to save her life and bring her back to her native home. Betrayal of one's own will cost a soldier very much. Maybe even his own life. How will Elizabeth cope with the idea that she will never see her lover again? Will she endure the feeling of loss? Or maybe she won't care about all this at all and she will live her dream life in peace?

She was 8 years old and didn't understand much about what was going on, all she knew is that her dad and her brother both had to leave to fight in the war. The only one that she had left was her mom, which was suffering from depression and couldn't really help her get through the hard times. As Elizabeth, the little girl, began to grow up, her mom died, her bother and her dad never showed up again at her house, which left her completely alone. She lost her house, she lost her family and all that she had left was herself. One day, at 16 years old, when she was walking down the street, she suddenly heard gunshots and all hell broke loose in front of her eyes. She was shocked, she didn't know what to do, since she thought that the war was over. However, one guy that was also part of the military, saw her. He looked around her age, and when he saw her standing there without moving, he saved her. This is the story about young love. About the girl who lost everything and about a guy who all he ever wants is for her to have a life again.
