Romance
In a world full of Vampires, Werewolves, Dragons, Demons, Mermaids and Witches, you would think that humans are the least of anyone's problems. Well for Rein, that's not so true. 17 year old Rein has Light Brown hair and big Brown eyes that were so dark they always looked black. She was an only child by default and was left with her abusive alcoholic father as well as he drug addicted mother. On the day of her 18th birthday she packs up what little clothes she has and makes a run for it. Her parents chased her for what seemed like hours. She runs for days and tries her best to stay hidden, knowing that her parents could possibly be right behind her. She continued to run until her father caught her and beat her worse then he ever did. Her mother had the idea to cut her wrists to make it look like her death was a suicide attempt. They then dragged her to the border of KingsLand. Legend has it that each of the kings resides in the same general area. Knowing that the King's killed any and all trespassers, Rein attempts getting herself off the land undetected. Weak from blood loss, she crawls to a stream. Using her hand to cup water to her mouth, she sees a man's reflection. The man picks her up bridal style and right before Rein blacks out the man whispers please don't die. Don't die." And the world goes black.

Book 1 of The Shadow Series. Myths, that's what the humans called it, but for Ashe it quickly became her reality. Her life changing transformation narrowed her paths down to two; She could either embrace her fates and save the people she's grown to love, or she can walk away and live a somewhat normal life while others suffer the consequences. How far is she willing to go to create peace where there's never been any? Will she even create peace? Or will she help encourage the most brutal war the Shadow Realms have ever experienced? Several years of Asheland's childhood had disappeared from her memory. She assumed it was her brain trying to protect her from a traumatic event, although that's true it's not exactly what she expected and her brain wasn't necessarily the cause. After being homeless until she was sixteen years old, then living in a boat dock for four years, she had finally found her home in a cottage in the near-by mountains of Wolf Creek. Everything seemed to be going well. However, as a list of secrets begin unraveling when Ashe gives in to her overwhelming urges to visit the island that terrified almost every citizen in Wolf Creek, her life becomes more complicated than she could've ever imagined. All of this just because she was turning twenty-one. Nothing was as it had ever seemed. * excerpt from the book * { "Why do you make such reckless, impulsive decisions?" The old man asked as we watched the moon. "The world could end tomorrow and everyone expects me to live in fear today? There's no life to live inside the box of fear, there's no freedom in there," I replied softly. }
