It all happened so fast, but now that I think of it, there were many subtle things that lead up to it. Things that maybe the whole world was aware of, but not me. Yet if the world knew what was happening, what was going to happen, why was my town so unprepared for it. The world was unprepared for it. Well, from what I could see.
When the world exploded, I was literally in the middle of nowhere, with 6 of my friends with no capacity to know what to do in a case like this, in a case of survival. And when the blinding light hit us, it was only by utter miracle that we survived... or most of us in that case.

A thrilling story of nuclear war, with captivating description and includes humor and romance. An adventure of a during and post-apocalyptic, dystopian future.

The secret seemed to be etched across my face, the words "traitor" branded on my forehead. I wondered how everyone would feel if they knew what I'd just done, if they knew the treason and danger I'd just committed myself too. If they knew that the helpless girl in the pink dress was something more than a background character. ... It's 1776, and the Revolutionary War is in full swing. Everyday men fight and die for their country on the battlefield, and people grow poorer and poorer everyday as King George continues to tax the colonies. But while civilians drop like flies, nineteen year old Rose and her family are safe in England and as close as ever to King George and his obnoxious daughter Princess Sophia. Rose has a life that one would dream of; endless money and luxury, marriage offerings from every suitor in town, and the privilege of having the royal family in the palm of her hand. Except there's one flaw to Rose's perfect life: she hates it. While everyone else is jealous of Rose's wealth and luck, all Rose wants is to return to her hometown Virginia and get away from Princess Sophia and her minions. But then Rose meets Fiona. She's leader of the Shadow Group, a group of overlooked woman who sneak information from the British and send it to the colonies. Desperate to escape her living nightmare, Rose joins and her luck starts to change. Soon she's secretly attending meetings and flirting information out of her chosen suitor to help her hometown; until the ultimate betrayal tears the group apart. Will Rose make it out of Britain and live the life she's always wanted or to persevere her family's reputation? Or will she crumble under the King's careful thumb and break free forever? It's time Britain realized that it's not just the colonies ready for a rebellion. COMPLETED

Full of growing suspense and surprise turns, "The End," set in the very near future, follows the winding and overlapping paths of several compelling characters as they're forced to navigate independent, yet inter-winding paths through the turbulent waters of a post-apocalyptic planet. These men, women and children struggle to make impossible decisions and, for some, unthinkable autocracies, in the name of self-preservation. At the moment of the event, time abruptly stops, and then slowly begins again, as our heroes are and heroines are jolted out of their mundane lives and sent reeling. "When confronted with the impossible and the unbelievable, the most viable options are often the most irrational." --Greta Thunberg, May 2027 This book, although 'technically' a work of fiction, is unique because the author has actually been on-site and personally witnessed almost all of the events and narratives described in it. Dan Martin has seen some of the planet's worst natural and man-made catastrophic events--war, devastating earthquakes, government and economic collapse, pandemics, looting, killing and kidnapping. He has personally been immersed in the chaos, destruction and collapse of cities and nations, and is able to convey those raw, often gritty, surreal experiences through the novel's lead characters. As the reader follows the unfolding drama, the characters assume real-life behaviors, actions and reactions with which the reader can relate and identify. You may even share some of the same tragic experiences. It is an inconceivable perspective and awareness that can only be imprinted on an individual who has actually experienced and been present during and immediately after such a horrific, life-changing event--something other post-apocalyptic authors are completely oblivious to and can only imagine.

"Apologies for the sudden interruption. It seems there's been an unexpected issue with our classroom arrangements. Due to a higher number of students joining this year, one of the rooms, originally meant for storage, will now be used as an extra classroom." A beat of silence followed. The announcement seemed to hang in the air like a slow-building question. "However," he continued, "that room can only accommodate eleven students, so the staff decided to randomly assign a small group to it. If your name is called, please know this was chosen purely by random draw. There's no ranking or special criteria involved. It's simply how the numbers worked out." The faint sound of papers shuffling filled the intercom, the rustle echoing through every corridor and classroom. A few students leaned forward in their seats, and others crossed their fingers just for the fun of it. "Sakurai Juliana." "Shirogane Luresse." "Giovanni Genesis." "Fujimori Janin." "Valerra Marilyn." "Arishiro Paul." "Tachibana Zhanda." "Kurogane Ashton." "Kurogane Arthur." "Akamine Red." "And last but not least... Ideue Grynt." At Bright Lights Academy, nothing ever goes according to plan. When a handful of students are randomly selected by the school system and placed into a brand-new classroom known as Class 1-A, no one expects much more than awkward introductions and quiet days. Instead, chaos follows them at every turn. Whether it's unexpected events, impulsive decisions, or moments that spiral wildly out of control, Class 1-A quickly becomes known as the most unpredictable class in the school. But beneath the noise and confusion, something else begins to form. Through shared misadventures, spontaneous hangouts, and bonds forged in the middle of disorder, these students slowly grow closer. This is the story of how a group of teens find out they're the missing pieces to each other's stories. (Just to clarify, this book is set in Japan, and may include vulgar language.)
