Dakota Mason has lost everyone she had ever loved. She is constantly hurting, emotionally and physically. Hey abusive dad hates her, he blames her for everything wrong in their lives. She can't leave until she is eighteen. So she reads books. A lot. She doesn't know how else to escape. 
 
  Everest Parker is the biggest outcast in Jacksonville high-school. He doesn't do friends, yet everyone wants to know him or claims they do. Half the school is in love with him and half the school hates him. 

  When Dakota moves to Jacksonville, Wyoming she makes it her goal not to be noticed. But when Dakota and Everest meet they can't stay away from each other. Maybe Dakota can help him escape, and maybe he can help her breath in reality before it's too late.
