Shirley is a thirteen year old girl, living in poverty with her abusive alcoholic father and loving dog, Molly. Shirley's forced to take care of her father until one night, she decides enough is enough, and runs away with Molly. Shirley is going to be forced to make a choice: turn herself over to custody, potentially losing Molly in the process, go back to her awful father and unfulfilling an life, or stay on the rough streets of Brisbane, trying to avoid danger. None of her options are lives she wants, but she has to choose one.
