Alice Lexington just moved into the neighborhood of West Edmundsburg with her dad in the beginning of June. She seems like a happy person- but her parents just divorced. She finds out about Sunset Hill just past the neighbor's house, around the corner, and across the silent street, and starts going there during the mornings of summer. Upon doing that, she meets James Skyles on the second morning. So far, other than Alice's parents divorcing, the summer has been amazing. But Alice's mom wants her to stay at her house a lot, which prevents her from seeing James some of the time. Rainy days don't help, either. They have conversations about life, love, parents, and school. Now, Alice has plenty to say about parents. Alice is struggling with a father who is slowly becoming addicted to alcohol, and a mother who pays more attention to Alice's little brother. She feels lonely, and loves to talk to James. But when her mom wants her for the rest of the summer and Alice has no say, and when her father is growing to buy more and more alcohol, What will happen? What will happen between James and Alice when she has to fight her mom to stay at her new neighborhood?
