I ran and saw people running beside me. I looked around for my family members but couldn't find them, I heard gun shots and the sound of people falling to the ground so I hid in a corner and prayed. A policeman looked at the direction I was hiding in and started walking towards the corner I was hiding in with his gun pointed and his hand hovering above the trigger ready to shoot if there is any movement and I moved further into the corner, when he was very close to where I was another policeman called him and he looked at my direction for a little while before retreating and going to meet the policeman that called him. I stayed in the corner until the sound of gun shots, people falling to the ground and police sirens died down and when I came out I wish I didn't, I saw the bodies of people I knew and didn't know lying there all dead. I looked for my family members and saw my mum, my little brother and my dad dead all lying side by side, I looked for my brother and saw a body that was burnt beyond recognition and I remember that my brother was part of the people that were burning posters that said no black people allowed. I vowed to kill the person that did this. Watch Akilah a black girl with no family as she struggles to survive.

I stood there leaning against the door for a second. Then screams reached my ear. I looked to where it came from and saw a girl at the other end of the hall laying on the ground with a gaping hole in her stomach. Three other students had ripped away at the girl's insides and were chewing it up. One paused for a second and looked up at me. He stood up and I panicked. I knew him. He was in my chorus class. August was his name. He had blond, curly hair, blue eyes, and was probably the tallest person in the entire school. August opened his now bloody mouth and let out a screech that sent chills down my spine. He leaped over the other two cannibals and the now dead girl and broke into a sprint. As soon as he leaped I had also started running. I made it out of the 300 hall and hid behind the vending machine that stood at the entrance of the hall. Seconds later, August was standing just inches from me. He looked around and I stayed as quiet and still as I possibly could. I didn't even breathe. After what seemed like years of waiting, August turned back toward the dead girl and walked out if sight. I stayed where I was for a little bit longer until my lungs demanded I start breathing again. Directly in front of me was the library and cafeteria. To the right of the cafeteria was the auditorium and the music hall. "If I could just make it to the chorus room maybe I'll find some of my friends," I thought to myself. I was about to take my first step when I looked down at my shoes. They were brand new and when I walked, they squeaked. I took my shoes off as quietly as I could. I had my Captain America socks on and I knew I'd have to take those off as well. I just couldn't risk slipping. Once my feet were bare I took off in a quiet sprint towards the music hall. How awesome is that cover though!? Lol my dad made it.
