I ran and saw people running beside me. I looked around for my family members but couldn't find them, I heard gun shots and the sound of people falling to the ground so I hid in a corner and prayed.

A policeman looked at the direction I was hiding in and started walking towards the corner I was hiding in with his gun pointed and his hand hovering above the trigger ready to shoot if there is any movement and I moved further into the corner, when he was very close to where I was another policeman called him and he looked at my direction for a little while before retreating and going to meet the policeman that called him.

I stayed in the corner until the sound of gun shots, people falling to the ground and police sirens died down and when I came out I wish I didn't, I saw the bodies of people I knew and didn't know lying there all dead.

I looked for my family members and saw my mum, my little brother and my dad dead all lying side by side, I looked for my brother and saw a body that was burnt beyond recognition and I remember that my brother was part of the people that were burning posters that said no black people allowed.

I vowed to kill the person that did this.

Watch Akilah a black girl with no family as she struggles to survive.

WARNING: Cussing, Strong Violence and other Triggering Content may occur. Prologue Mercy ran down the narrow streets, moving her legs as fast as she could. Running from what? Well, she doesn't know. At least, not yet. The streetlamps began to flicker and a loud scream was heard from inside an alley. All she really knew at that moment was to run. Her town was being raided by these monsters on black horses.... they carried long black blades stained with blood and dark hoods covering their faces. They raced recklessly through the town on their dark mounts, slashing at anyone who stood in their way. Some of them even carried torches, using them to set houses and stores alight in flames. People ran everywhere, screaming and yelling for their lost family and friends. But Mercy continued running... she had to. Until she saw a little girl, no older than seven, sitting in front of a burning building, crying. Mercy slowed, then with hesitation, walked over to the girl, avoiding being seen by the raiding party. "Whats the matter with you? You need to get out of the open." She told her. "But- but i don't know where my mommy is." The little girl sobbed. Although Mercy had lost her mother when she was fourteen, she still remembers the feeling of helplessness. "Alright. Come on... Let's go try to find your mom." She sighed. A raider was drawing closer to them, so they had to hurry... and Mercy knew it. "Run." She whispered to the girl, who was oblivious to the approaching attacker.

I stood there leaning against the door for a second. Then screams reached my ear. I looked to where it came from and saw a girl at the other end of the hall laying on the ground with a gaping hole in her stomach. Three other students had ripped away at the girl's insides and were chewing it up. One paused for a second and looked up at me. He stood up and I panicked. I knew him. He was in my chorus class. August was his name. He had blond, curly hair, blue eyes, and was probably the tallest person in the entire school. August opened his now bloody mouth and let out a screech that sent chills down my spine. He leaped over the other two cannibals and the now dead girl and broke into a sprint. As soon as he leaped I had also started running. I made it out of the 300 hall and hid behind the vending machine that stood at the entrance of the hall. Seconds later, August was standing just inches from me. He looked around and I stayed as quiet and still as I possibly could. I didn't even breathe. After what seemed like years of waiting, August turned back toward the dead girl and walked out if sight. I stayed where I was for a little bit longer until my lungs demanded I start breathing again. Directly in front of me was the library and cafeteria. To the right of the cafeteria was the auditorium and the music hall. "If I could just make it to the chorus room maybe I'll find some of my friends," I thought to myself. I was about to take my first step when I looked down at my shoes. They were brand new and when I walked, they squeaked. I took my shoes off as quietly as I could. I had my Captain America socks on and I knew I'd have to take those off as well. I just couldn't risk slipping. Once my feet were bare I took off in a quiet sprint towards the music hall. How awesome is that cover though!? Lol my dad made it.

But I don't end up having to do much because Judah soon blocks my way. "Why are you hiding from me little dove?" "I'm not." I whisper back. "How about we finish what we started that day?" I blush at the memories but quickly realize this is the best excuse to get him out of the spotlight. He takes my hand before we leave through the door and check a few rooms only to figure out that they're all locked. "The rooftop's door is open." As soon as he takes the first step I trip him but he finds his footing before swinging at my ribs. What I didn't expect was for him to pounce on me and pull my dagger out of my holster before stabbing my leg. Kicking his shin with my good leg I manage to flip us over. He's just about to throw me off when I land an uppercut to his jaw. I take out my gun to end this but just as I pull the trigger I'm grabbed. "No!" I struggle as I'm tied up before they check Judah. The wound clearly missed and isn't at all fatal. I watch as he sits up with a pained groan before his eyes meet mine. "I think I'm in love." He states breathlessly with a handsome grin. Jesus Christ, she is losing too much blood. We are losing her and the baby... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My eyes continued to open and close as the doctor tried everything in his power to resuscitate me. I never thought I would have to pick between fame- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Suddenly he stopped moving when he heard what appeared to be footsteps following his last and final movement. In his last moments, he thought about me. I was his first true love. As he turned around he watched as the gun was aimed directly at his head. The man who stood before him didn't appear like any ordinary man. He gave him a sinister smile as he continued to look him straight in his eyes. Who are you he asked the person? Karma he replied. This is for what you did to them because of you he might not even survive. This is for picking love over--- The person's eyes widened as he prepared himself to eject each clip into his target's head. Within a couple of minutes, the gun went off. Blood splattered everywhere. All that remained was the victim's body with a gunshot wound to the head. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gifted: Or love but wait let's go back to when it all started...
