The girl was hesitant to let anyone in. She spent every waking hour of her life scaring people away so she could face her torturing demons on her own. She didn't need anyone or so that what she let herself believe every time someone new tried squirming their way into her life.
She knew it was bad to wallow in self pity and tear yourself down with every wrenching word that made its way into her head and made a home for itself but she couldn't help it.
The demons had implanted those thoughts and left no exit for them.
