Mac has always had a passion for drama (at least since freshman year), acting has been the freedom that has built her into the [brash, overbearing, LOUD] exuberant person that she is today. Never being one to pay much attention to the future, her newfound realization that graduation will take all of these things away from her. 

On the other hand, Olivia has never felt any need to build up any kind of foundation at school; she's never going to see any of these people again once she graduates (not that she would want to, anyway). High school is just a stepping stone; she can find a personality in college. She's perfectly fine with the [boring, self-absorbed, stand-offish] person she is right now, there's no rush to bury herself in extra-curriculars when she's already got all of this school work to do. She never realized exactly how much her college applications would disagree.
