Ege dünyası M.Ö. aşağı yukarı 3100 yılı civarında tarih öncesi dönemlerini bitirmiş ve "TUNÇ ÇAĞI" denen döneme girmişti.Bu süreç aşağı yukarı M.Ö. 1100 civarında sona erer.Ancak bu tarihler daha çok Girit ve Yunanistan için geçerlidir. Kikladlar için bu süreç M.Ö. 1400 civarında sona ermişti. Bu döneme "TUNÇ ÇAĞI" denmesinin sebebi ise bakır ve kalay karışımı olan tunçtan yapılan eşyaların Ege'de görülmeye başlanmasıdır fakat bu aletler daha çok üst kademenin elindeydi Tunç Çağının yaklaşık İlk bin yılı ilk Tunç Çağını kapsar Tunç Çağı Girit'te Minos adalarda kiklad Yunanistan'da ise Hellas ismi ile biliniyordu .Mesela Yunanistan'da ilk Tunç Çağından söz etmek istersek İlk Hellas dönemi diye adlandırmamız gerekir .Batı Anadolu'da özel bir adlandırma yoktur fakat bununla beraber Troia belirleyici bir rol üstlenmiştir.
