The colorful flowers and grass of the field were buffeted by a large gust of wind, as if someone had turned on a fan suddenly. Ashlyn stood there, staring at her surroundings curiously, wondering at the sudden wind that seemed to have no effect on her. It would stop, only to come back a few seconds later. Suddenly this 'wind' picked up speed and out of the sky dropped a dragon.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Ashlyn screamed. Before her stood a magnificently beautiful, yet terrifying, dragon. He was black as night, with a thick whit scar running up his forearm. His large, soft looking wings were tucked to his sides for better mobility when on the ground. And don't get me started on the terrifying looking spikes running along his back, or the large white claws on his feet. It didn't help that he seemed to be almost as tall as a six story house.
Strangely enough though, when the dragon turned to look at her, Ashlyn was not afraid. She felt more of a sense of pride when his large head nudged her naked waist. That was, until his tongue traced an odd pattern on her side. It felt like fire was crawling up her skin, and she started screaming, dropping to her knees in pure pain. The dragon stepped back, and a few minutes later when she looked up, in his place there stood a man. He stepped into the moon light and-

Wren's life is about to change forever - but not how she expects it to. Kidnapped on her wedding day, she finds herself trapped in a mountain cave, unable to return home with no company outside of the inhuman creature that took her. *** "Wait, Wren! Not that way!" It was darker here and panic limited her vision, but she could see it reaching for her; its wings like two huge looming shadows behind it. "Get away! Don't touch me! No, let me go!" She shrieked. She screamed in earnest as a hand took hold of her arm, and then even more when her own hand reached for something to hang onto and grasped at empty air. She had been scrambling towards a sudden drop! The hands hauled her back, but she still struggled. She didn't want to look at it, and she still wasn't sure she wouldn't rather take her chances with the open air instead. "Stop it, I'm not going to hurt you! You'll hit your head on the rock or something. Wren, please!" It knew her name. Somehow it knew her. She was going to die! "Let me go! Stop touching me!" She was sitting on the rocky floor now with her back against an uneven wall, and it was trying to pin her down and hold her still. She kept her eyes turned away and struggled helplessly, but it was no use. It was strong like a human man too, and she couldn't keep it off of her. The wings had moved until they curved around them both and shut out a lot of the light. Its face was so near hers that she could feel its breath brushing against her skin. "Please just look at me for a second. Just look. I'm not going to hurt you." One of the hands grabbed her chin and forced her head to turn, and then she was looking straight into a pair of dark brown eyes. It had a human face too. She had been expecting something monstrous or ghastly, and the surprise made her falter for a moment. He looked young, with a bad haircut and an earnest expression on his face. "I'll let go of you, okay? Just don't lunge around like that anymore, you'll get hurt." He whispered.

Long Ago

31 parts Complete

"Long ago, there was a time when everything was filled with magic." My grandfather began, "Where you could feel it dancing around on the mid day breeze. When not only could you feel it, but you could see it. It shimmered and shined throughout the world, everywhere you looked, there magic would be. " He smiled at me as he blew sparkles from his hand into my face. I giggled and batted it away with my small hand. "I remember the days when there were creatures of every kind and shape in the world. I remember playing with the fairies and swimming with the mermaids. I remember having to come inside at night before the trolls came out for feeding time. I remember seeing a dragon breath fire." "You saw a dragon?" I asked in awe. My little green eyes lit with wonder and joy. "Yes, Bean, I did." He said smiling as he flicked my tiny freckled nose. "I saw many dragons in my long life of living. They flew wide over the mountains and soared high above the clouds in the sky." He stretched his crinkled hand over his head, to show how the dragons flew. "They would glide over the world and land on their tall mountains. Returning home after his long day of flight. Oh, Bean, if only you could have seen it." He shook his head, his light grey, shoulder length hair moving with each pass. "I wish I could see a dragon once more before I die." He took a deep breath. "But no, I cannot."
