"Give me back my Drumstick, Addalien!" He shouted, his small hand reached out towards mine. "Eww! No! Don't touch me, you have cooties." I puffed, holding the drumstick protectively behind my back.
"Addie, if I have cooties than that drumstick does too!" He spoke, sticking out his tongue with a triumphant smirk and crossing his arms.
I looked down at the large stick in my hands, glancing back up at him. "I win, come on. Hand it over, Addie." He said, reaching again and almost falling off the black plush stool. "No, I like these cooties!" I shouted, running from him and out of the musty smelling cabin's doors.
I heard his heavy breathing and footsteps behind me as I turned; just in time to smack into him and cause us both to tumble down.
"Oooowwwww." He groaned from his spot next to me, rubbing his forehead.
I squinted, just as the light was blocked out over us and a stern eyed lady with a surprisingly comforting smile grinned at us. "Welcome to Drummers camp."
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
