La Mort.

That is what the people of Chartres, Louisiana call their tiny hamlet. It is a place of black waters and death, a place outsiders fear, and when people disappear, no one asks questions.

Emory Beaunay knows firsthand the truth of her town's nickname. Many years ago her mother was murdered, her body left to rot in the bayou. Just one of several women to meet the same fate over a span of five years. The murderer was never brought to justice, and the killing spree became something the locals talked about over chess and coffee.

But never in front of Emory.

Thirteen years later, the murders begin again. One by one, girls disappear- their bodies discovered in the same places with the same wounds. When Emory is taken, she knows she's doomed to be just another statistic.

Until she isn't. Retribution is hers if she chooses to become the very thing she despises.

A murderer.
A life for a life.
A soul for a soul.

Hey there folks, I'm Cody Phillips, welcome to New Orleans. N'awlins is known for many wonderful things, our coffee, music and the ability to throw a damn fine party. We're also known as the city most people believe may be one of the most haunted places in the world. Well, let me tell you this, we have more than our fair share. I know because I can see them. But, listen, don't spread that around. Yeah? It's been a closely guarded family secret my whole life. Not even my best friend knows this about me. See, I use my 'gift' in my work as a homicide detective with NOLA's finest boys in blue. Now, I understand why you might call it cheating, and that's fine. But I always catch the bad guy with the victim telling me everything I need to know and give the family involved closer. So it evens out as far as I can tell. Now just as my life is moving slower than a gator with a full belly, the worst happens. I get the call about a homicide that's hit too close to home. It leaves the girl of my dreams coming home to face tragedy. The moment I see her I find myself reminded of the one secret no one ever knew. Ever since I was eight years old I have felt many different things for Emma O'Neal, and those feelings haven't disappeared with time. Problem is now that she's come home; I find myself fighting not only an unknown assailant out for blood, my partner's misguided beliefs but my own need for the enticing beauty I'm duty sworn to protect. Damn, I just hope I'm able to fight the feelings I have for this woman, and stay focused on the case. Otherwise, I might end up losing something far more precious to me than the honor I've worked so hard for: Emma's life.

Nick Grayson: The Truth in the Lies

7 parts Ongoing Mature

The moment Emily Turner walks into Nick Grayson's office, a tale of deception and danger begins. The case seems straightforward: find her brother's killer. But as Nick delves into the criminal underbelly of New Orleans, he discovers that nothing is as it seems. Aided by his resourceful secretary, Lisa, and a couple of untrustworthy allies-sensational reporter Carl Morgan and police detective Bob Harris-Nick starts to piece together the evidence. Who would want Daniel Turner dead? Could it be Mayor Raymond Fontaine, the corrupt city leader? Or Sal Moretti, the mafia boss conducting illicit business with Fontaine? Perhaps it's Colonel Victor Thornwood, Fontaine's seemingly virtuous political opponent, or the young, squeaky-clean third-party candidate Luke Mitchell? Filled with twists and turns and a touch of the paranormal à la voodoo, this noir thriller, set in the heart of the French Quarter, offers plenty of surprises and a mystery that will keep you turning the pages.
