It is a historical compilation of the oral and written entwined with the possibility of truth.
It is the story of the 'Campbell' family and their lives during World War 2. Historically it focuses on the 2/13 Battalion and 2/1 Pioneers and their journey to Tobruk and the birth of the infamous Rats of Tobruk. On an emotional level it explores how the Campbell family dealt with the loss of three sons in less than three years.
It is a common story that encapsulates the history of far too many families and in its rawness it could be your family.
Have the stories and characters of the story grown in their own legendary status? Has fact given way to fiction?
The answer is plain and simple, "I don't know".
Held together with possibilities, as the writer I am often unsure where black and white merge to become grey.
'Campbell'- Scottish in its origin, the family crest bears an image of fierce, snarling bore. However, it is not this image that brings meaning to this story but rather its Latin motto 'Ne Obliviscaris '- Never Forget.

The oldest of four daughters, Charlotte is mostly a shy and reserved girl who keeps to herself. Now, I as a 20-year-old writing student am fully aware of my mistakes and would like to apologize profusely for them. They are not reflective of my present character by any means and I can assure you that I FULLY condemn the slut-shaming, misogyny, white saviorism, racism, and the general oversimplification of vastly complex themes and historical contexts you might see in Yours Truly (2014). As much as I would like to chalk it all up to being a sign of the times (the very backwards 1940s), I understand now how I should have handled this particular time period with more tact and discretion. Especially with how I recklessly portrayed the horrific racial climate of the 1940s American South. Again, I am very sorry and can wholeheartedly promise you that any later drafts of Yours Truly would 100% rework all of these themes and contexts with the utmost of consideration towards the communities they affect directly. The Soldier of Stars ~ Band of Brothers [1] A young woman who finds peace in the stars, and let's them guide her even through the darkness that might overcome her. __________ Hazel Parker of the WAC, Catherine McCown of SPARs and Elizabeth Elliot of the Cadet Nurses' Corps take part in Operation Virago which will send 250 women to the front lines to fight alongside men. The government, along with the War Department and direction from General Eisenhower decide this is a secret, covert operation that the public will be shielded from, to see how integrating women into war will work. Each of the 250 women come with their own ambitions of what they want from war and why they signed up in the first place to be apart of this program. They become split into each of the 5 branches with leverage from each of the branch commanders, and split into groups of 2, 3, or 4 women and are placed into their different respective branches. The enlisted men of each branch, well, they do not know exactly how to approach a woman who, at the moment, has more military training and experience by the time they get placed into their positions. Hazel Parker, Catherine McCown and Elizabeth Elliot are placed into the 101st Airborne, the first 3 women to be apart of the Airborne. A few other women head off to the 82nd. These 3 women become part of the 506th and are put under 2nd Battalion, in Easy Company. Christian theologian and philosopher Augustine of Hippo once said, "The purpose of all war is peace". In the world we live in today, this saying is one much too true. The Great War, the Second World War, the Vietnam War... these are all examples of such a catastrophe. Which ever one is made topic for discussion, the results are still the same - millions dead, and if not, suffering the aftermath. Despite all this, the sacrifices weren't in vain, as the necessary peace was kept. However, a war rages on, and this time, it could end the world. Two secret organizations, the Peacekeepers, who makes it its mission to protect the world, and the Southpaw, who's bent on destroying it. Hiroyuki Watanabe, a fellow Peacekeeper, is part of this war. A soldier, one too young. Along with his team of brave souls, the boy endeavors to end this secret war, before it ends humanity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author's Note: This was and still is my very first story.
