D'Nae Jones had a rough start to life. Her aunt stormed into her life when she was eight and pulled her and her mother out of a hellish life. Thrown into a whole new life in a tiny town, she's tried her hardest to forget where she came from. But the memories have been slipping through her barriers. Memories of the events that shaped her and hurt her.

Along with the bad memories come the good. The memories of a boy who stood up for her again and again. Of a friend who never gave up even when she was at her worst.

D'Nae has to face down her demons and come to terms with who she is and the changes happening around her. She also has to learn to trust the people who care the most about her.
