His tough life has caused him to become selectively mute. He hasn't spoken a word since he was 15.
But, when he meets John, his dorm mate, his outlook on life is turned around.

(I know that Laurens is the one that's 3 years older, but John sounds cute as a shy kid. I also know this is probably crappy, and ive changed some details, such as Lafayette being three years older than Laurens instead of three years younger, and ive made relations between characters that aren't real.
