Eddie has had a horrible past. Alice feels broken beyond repair. They meet at their lowest. They were happy together, two broken people with pieces to fix each other. But someone framed the murder of those women on him and now he's locked away in Mount Massive Asylum for "help." Alice knows who it is and tries to prove her boyfriend's innocence with the help of Miles Upshur, the only person who doesn't seem scared of Mount Massive. But when he gets a tip about the place, she comes along with him, fearing for her fiance. But without her, how did Eddie cope?

AKA I'm a piece of shit who kind of feels bad for Eddie and I just want to help him and have a happy ending. This is trash fire and I am (slightly) sorry. This won't be completely canon, obviously, and I adjusted the plotline.

-Cross-post from my Ao3- The Aftermath at Mount Massive is part one of a three part series called Survivors. This part is done. It is a fanfic for the game Outlast, set after the first game/DLC. However, you don't have to know much about the game to jump in. This story follows an independent journalist named Miles Upshur who received an email from a whistleblower, Waylon Park, who worked at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems: Mount Massive. The hospital was supposed to be run as a charity, offering help to those who could not pay, or for those who other hospitals wouldn't accept. However, things weren't as they seemed and Murkoff was using the hospital as a cover for a laboratory where they were performing experiments on humans. The end result of such experiments was the creation of Project Walrider, a bio-nanite parasite that lives inside a human body. Miles stumbles into the facility during a security breach and riot. He manages to survive the night but in doing so becomes infected with the nanites, becoming the new host for Project Walrider. The Aftermath of Mount Massive is about Miles coming to terms with what being the Host means for both his humanity and future.
