An accident meeting with the leader of New York's most notorious mobs forces Melody into an adventure of sorts. "A proposition?" I questioned, hoping for an answer that would satisfy my curious hunger.
He wet his lips, speaking slowly. " You're going to work for me." His icy eyes shot through my body, immobilizing me.
"No." I answered simply, shaking my head subtly. I kept a calm face, though my insides were burning with nervousness.
"I assume you went to school. Graduated." The subject changed as his voice hardened. His gaze shifted to the city outside of the window as I nodded, biting my lip ever so slightly. He continued.
"So, I also assume you know basic grammar." His eyes flicked back over to me, muscular arms crossing, intimidating me. I had no idea where he was going with this.
The marble floor was cold under my feet as I whispered my answer.
"Yes."
He clenched his jaw, my heart racing.
"Then you'll know that wasn't a fucking question."
