Ashley Cartwright, once a boring secretary for a lab her father worked in, and now a vital part of a mysterious plan conducted by a mystical, deadly man.

       New enemies appear, tensions between Kinlings and Darklings rise, and there's also the mystery of Ashley's supposedly dead mother.
      Fighting to unravel the secrets and stay alive while doing it, she soon finds she is no longer Ashley Cartwright, lab secretary, but someone else entirely who's will and determination rival's those of the powerful beings around her.
