━ It is the 10th century in Andalusian Spain, and a young girl named Badriyyah is being sent to marry one of the royal princes of the Qāsami dynasty. While she had been considered very capable and intelligent in her hometown, the complex and strict customs of the royal palace are something else entirely; and although she had not been expecting love in a political marriage, the sheer disinterest and arrogance of her husband becomes too much to handle, no matter how capable and handsome he may be.
