Delilah Matthews is a small business owner in the suburbs of Seattle. Her bookstore, 'Delilah's Corner', is her pride and joy. She works tirelessly every day to improve the environment she has created. In fact, she just added something new to 'Delilah's Corner', pastries and coffee. Delilah's other passion in life (next to books) was baking. Delilah prided herself on her self-taught baking skills and thought it was time to add her personal hobby to her work.
In walks Demarcus. Demarcus, or De as his friends affectionately call him, a former Marine turned entrepreneur. Demarcus and his friends Phoenix, Hayes, Luke, and Archer all co-own a chain of bars/clubs in Seattle called YoungBlood. Demarcus mostly works on the culinary and mixology side of things, so when he decides he needs to spice up their dessert menu, he finds Delilah.
Delilah and Demarcus could not be more different. Demarcus is a 6'2 ex-marine with a dirty sense of humor, a killer smile, and a devilish attitude. Delilah on the other hand, hates confrontation and reads books to the children at the homeless shelter. The two were the epitome of salty and sweet, a complete juxtaposition of one another. But, somehow they were made to be together.
After fleeing from her scumbag ex and quitting college over three years ago Joanie Collins has now rebuilt her life running a little bakery back in her hometown. Happy to be alone rather than being hurt again, Joanie has built up high ice walls to protect her fragile heart and has sworn off all men. That is until troubled playboy millionaire Caleb Maverick returns home after being abroad for two years and they're forced to work together. Can Caleb melt this Ice queens heart and find peace for himself?

"And what about me? Was it just a crush you had on me?" he says in a raspy hushed voice that makes me take a big gulp.
I lean forward so I'm now closer also to Caleb and look him straight in the eyes. If we're going to be honest... then let's do this.
"Your Caleb Maverick, everyone had a crush on you. The fact you were so oblivious to all the attention you got just added to your boyish charm. The girls at our school wanted one night with Ethan but they all wanted to settle down and marry you." I say honestly and Caleb actually looks surprised.
He sits back in his chair looking genuinely puzzled, "That's not...that's not how I remember high school." He mutters before his eyes fix back onto me. "I remember being second best to Ethan for everything. Sports, grades, girls, Mia...you." he grits.

The Sequel to 'More than just Neighbours'. I'd recommend reading that book first for these characters backstory x
