On Sunday the 14th of May 1978, nine year old, Renee Britt went to play in the park, but never came home. 
After ten years of being held captive, she is finally rescued and decides to start a fresh, new life. 
She finishes school and goes through college, gets a job, eventually marries and buys a house. But when she has children of her own, she struggles with her tragic past, feeling that she has to protect them through everything that they do. 
Will her protective care become controlling and overbearing for her children as they grow or will they understand why she's like it?
