"Why not now?" I asked him slowly, looking for any sign of wavering.

"I think I'd want you more if I thought you'd remember this tomorrow," he replied shortly before opening the door and leaving me more than a little confused.

Allana Belle was used to the haze of smoke and burning liquor. Crowded rooms, loud voices, and even louder music. She was used to getting physically close to new man whenever she didn't want to be alone. But never more. This was how she survived. Until she met an unattainable and intriguing stranger who showed her how to feel even farther from sober without the substance.
