This is a piece I wrote for a newspaper in my area. It was for a young writers contest and I got 2nd place for my high school. The topic was School Violence/ Gun Violence so it is quite dark. I would love some feedback on it thank you :)

Project Pen (first draft)
undergoing 1st round developmental edits!! When Edith, an overworked college student goes no contact with her parents, she must find a way to financially support herself while she gets her degree. She enters a writing competition in which the winner gets a book deal. When she struggles to write the violence in the slasher novel she decided to write, she turns to drastic measures for inspiration. After all, you should write what you know... a/n: hi guys!! this is an (incredibly) rough first draft of what originated as a project in my Creative Writing class. We were given the school year to write an original novella, and this is mine! I've grown really attached to the plot, but at my current writing skill, I don't think I could've properly gotten the point across in the time I was given. I'm publishing it here both to share it with my friends and to hopefully find proofreaders! I would really appreciate it if you could leave suggestions in the comments as they occur, or dm me for longer explanations! I'd also love to have people to help with the outlining in general, so dm me if you want to see the outline so you can critique that as well!Abgeschlossen

MAN IT IS GOOD TO SEE THIS AGAIN. This is a story I wrote in high school and added onto the entire four years. It was hand written by me, hand edited on paper (both to my sega genesis playing the sonic 2 boss music) then transferred to comp, for the second edit, and even then it's still edgy garbage :'). Posting it because man I love this story, it was my first real one and peeps got excited for the "weekly" post of this I made on facebook. Dr Dashow has been run out of town, and in his old age he seeks to replicate the formula for life itself! He creates two creatures of pure shadow, as they grow distraught and leave causing havoc. Warning: Contains edge and death and murder or whatever. Written by a loner in high school who had no idea that periods could replace commas. Lmao. Grammatical errors abound. Also just noticed the spaces, it's spaced like that because in order to share it I had to limit my characters. It's too much of a bother to do it for EVERYTHING but just know that they are not new paragraphs, simply just cuts.Abgeschlossen
My Teddy
The corner of his mouth tilts upward slightly. I smile again. A smile!? A tiny one, but still. "Hm. So I got you to smile, that's progress, yeah? Can I get your name now?" I ask, swinging my feel a little. He shakes his head shyly, his mouth not moving at all. Geez! Why do I want to hear this dude talk so much? "Okay, that's fine. I can give you a nickname." I offer happily. He looks up from his book, raising his eyebrows. I just stare for a moment. He has nice eyes. Pretty brown chocolate orbs. They remind me so much of....... "Teddy." He shakes his head immediately, frowning. "What, why not? You remind me of my old teddy bear. He was a good listener and he didn't talk much..... just like you." I say softly, tilting my head. He continues to shake his head. I fold my arms, leaning back in my seat. "Yeah, it's definitely sticking. Teddy.....It has a nice ring to it, yeah?" He sighs, the first sound I have ever heard him make. "No." . . . *Jordan* Teddy!? Seriously!? She gave me a fucking NICKNAME!? What the hell does this girl want!? I stuff my hands into my pockets, walking down the busy street. Forget about her. She's just a annoying pretty girl, she'll go away. Everybody does. She HAS to go away. *Spoiler alert*: she doesn't. Don't get close to people or they'll end up getting hurt. That's my mindset. I've been through enough of that. This girl doesn't belong in my world anyway. She's too innocent. *Mature content* {Just a quick update, I am basically rewriting the story. I wrote it when I was in 8th grade and it makes me cringe every time I try to go back and edit it so keep in mind that it'll get better}Abgeschlossen
