Of Countries, Old and New

This is a short story based around the premise of everything having a price.
After thinking a slight amount about how war works it occurred to me that freedom isn't a right that is just granted to people, but instead something with a price, and for some, quite a hefty one.

The story loosely follows a young man from an unspecified country heading into war and his experiences while there, while also focusing on the politics of it.
