"Writing letters isn't something I'd recommend but it was recommended to me so I have no choice but to do so. I don't see why my therapist suggested it. I also don't see why I need a therapist. I'm not suicidal, depressed or suffering from any form of problem. My parents are just wasting their money."

Sawyer Barkley is the NEW kid because his parents hate him and have to move everything year or so. His parents have finally decided to settle down, which means he has to settle down too.

Attending a new high school isn't something he's looking forward to. Neither is the detention he gets in his first week.

"Detention is like jail. You attend, you get emotionally scarred and you leave. I don't see why that didn't work for me."

Unfortunately, Sawyer gets a little more than he bargained for in there when he ends up attracting the attention of a group of people he'd rather avoid.

"I'm pretty sure making friends isn't a required part of education."

This is just a little story about friends, adventures, trust and shells.

"What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie?" Instantly, Sawyer frowns, an unimpressed expression on his face. I continue to smile at him, urging him to ask as I grab his shoulders and shake him, "C'mon, Sawyer, you gotta ask!! What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie??" He shakes his head, turning away from me as he presses his tongue to inside of his mouth. Flatly, he states, rubbing his face, "We're not doing this shit, Mari." "Yes we are!!!" I snort loudly as he scowls at me. Poking his shoulder, I ask, "You ready?!!" "No." "I'm gonna say it." "No, you're not-" "SoFISHticated." "You're a fucking idiot." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Lengthy Chapters!!* Marianne Parker and Sawyer Cortez are complete opposites of each other. Marianne is a talented musician and believes in finding the good in everything around her. Always smiling, laughing, kind to everyone, and definitely an optimist. With a bubbly attitude and an outgoing personality, she's always looking to make a new friend, and all around a ray of sunshine. Sawyer, on the other hand, is blunt, rude, and pessimistic. He doesn't believe there could be good in everything. He doesn't smile, doesn't laugh, isn't interested in making new friends or socializing. Hell, he BARELY tolerates his own friends. The total definition of a raincloud. But, when Sawyer meets Marianne, it becomes all too clear that there's something about her he can't ignore. From the way she walks, talks, laughs, and smiles. It's all distracting to him, and he doesn't like that. In his efforts, he tries to ignore it and avoid her. But that can be hard when the girl in question, AKA Marianne, is EQUALLY interested in him too. Started August 2023 - ????

Madeline found the note in her locker. Neatly folded, it held a pair of razor blades and a set of instructions. "Just die, ugly girl. No one will miss you." She doesn't know who gave it to her. Or any of the others before it. But she knows one thing: they're right. No one will miss her. Her mother is dead, her dad is more a theory than a parental figure, and her friends are the stick figures she draws in her notebooks. So, when someone she barely knows invites her to the school graduation party, there's no reason for her to go. A girl like her at a party like that? Eating a bowl of live spiders would be a better idea. And yet, she accepts. She goes. She doesn't know what she expects to find there. She doesn't even know why she said yes. Out of desperation? Because she thinks she'll somehow make friends? Prove, somehow, that the razor note is wrong? Whatever her reasons, what she finds is a surprise. And not the one she wants. She's given one more note. And what's written inside this one will make her face the truth she's been hiding from for seven years. And the truth about Madeline Parker will either fix her, and finally make her worthy of being loved, or it will prove that the note with the razors is right. Or both. -- Complete and professionally edited. Also on sale (www.lifelostandfound.com) where 150% of all sales go to charity, including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Dedicated to all of us who need a reason to keep going. Especially now. I hope it makes you laugh. And I hope it helps you realize you're not alone. (Warning -- Do not read this book if you: look amazing all or most of the time, never worry about what people think of you, have more friends than Estonia has people, or are allergic to the word "shenanigans". Especially that last one, because it's used once or twice and you may experience a reaction. Also, you should probably see a doctor about that. Secondary warning: the word "shenanigans" is used in this warning.)
