The time is in the early 18th Century. Edmund Alric is the prince of his kingdom and is almost to the age of taking over for his father as King. Things are going fairly well for him until the head knight from the neighboring kingdom brings some bad news. The knight offers his allegiance to Prince Edmund until everything is sorted out; but exactly how long will that take?
