2061. Mars was officially certified as inhabitable.
2067. Mankind finally got a breath of Mars.

On the day she is set to marry her fiancé, Daria (Ria) Diles is tasked by the International Space Agency (ISA) with a standard reconnoitre mission on Mars. Becoming the youngest flight captain at the age of twenty-two has Ria jumping to prove herself to the agency, so she accepts her orders without hesitation.

However, the routine orbit and observe mission quickly takes drastic turns when their module is pulled by unknown gravitational forces and explodes on Mar's surface. Stranded on a foreign planet with no way home, the crew of the Luna Module find themselves in a remorseless fight for survival. Ria's new mission becomes to ensure the safety of her 12-man crew, but just because Mars is inhabitable doesn't mean it's survivable.

The year is 2889. Three hundred and thirteen years after fleeing a dying earth, the Universe Association has never been stronger. Eight colonized planets, an organized government, and one man at the head of it all are not expecting change. Still, change can spread like fire if sparked in the right place. Daisy Edelweiss, crown princess of Neptune, begins her first year at the Universe Association Academy. Life in a reconstructed Earthen city is as alien to her as her planet once was to Earth, and the invitations to join secret rebellion groups aren't helping. Not to mention the other royals in her class, some of whom can't get off their high horses, and some of whom have the nicest brown eyes... Artemisia McCourt, the youngest senator in training at UAA, must also adjust to life away from the blue planet. Her aptitudes for politics and writing land her a reputation among the Universe Association as either a tool or a weapon, depending on who gets to her first. Everyone's holding their breath for the Little Senator... Terra Solum, crown princess of Mars, is trying to decide whether to give up her crown to her diabolical younger brother, or keep the crown and be forever trapped in a life she doesn't want. A temporary arrangement is made, during which she is allowed to teach at UAA and keep her title while she decides which life she wants. The decision would be far easier without the former crown prince of Mercury and his perfect hair in her way... Royalty, rebellion, and romance collide in Something We Miss. Mars Needs Women

17 parts Complete

Being a 'difficult woman', Oklahoma farm-gal Mavis wasn't having much luck with the local dating pool. Her Pa signed her up to emigrate to newly terraformed Mars, because 'Mars needs women'. Maybe there she could find a good man to marry. But Mavis had no intention of getting hitched, despite what the legal contract said. Walt, the son of successful Mars merchants, had no intention of going through with a forced arranged marriage. Finding a kindred spirit in Mavis, they chose their own path. A sci-fi sorta-romance story written for the 2024 Open Novella Contest based on prompt #88: "Your father is forcing you to marry someone you never met. The night before your wedding, you tie your sheets together and make your escape through the window. Half way down you make eye contact with someone doing the exact same thing a few windows over." **** Open Novella Contest Short List and Honorable Mention **** **** Open Novella Contest Round Two Ambassador Pick **** **** Novella Grand Winner - 2025 NanoWatt Awards ****
