When Elise Layton gets into serious trouble with a group of friends in her home town, her parents decide to send her thousands of miles away to protect her. They hope she'll finally change her rebellious ways and come back to them having matured.

After a long and emotional conversation with her parents about where her life is headed, she gets on a flight. On her way from London, England all the way to a little U.S town called Rockport, she thinks of who she needs to be. She knows it's time to change and to repent for all of the things she's done to cause pain to others. She's going to use her best assets to help, rather than hurt people.

Starting at an American high school is going to be a challenge for her, after leaving her sixth form in the U.K. She's nervous but that's something she'd never let show. She's been through too much to show any weakness. She knows she can use her strength to build others back up.

I heard Jordan groan in frustration before he made his way over to me, crouching in front of me. That stupid signature smirk of his was back on his face again as he slowly but surely moved his head toward mine, his face tilting as his mouth got dangerously close to mine as every second slipped by. My breathing hitched, my heart pounded, and suddenly, out of nowhere, my fist formed, and it flew right into Jordan's face. He stumbled backward, losing his balance as he hit the edge of the table. ~ Casey Valentine. She's your typical girl-next-door, smart, slightly awkward girl just wanting to live her ordinary-enough life without any unnecessary drama, wanting to finish the last few months of her senior year of high school with flying colours before setting off on her journey towards the rest of her life. But her life changes suddenly when she discovers that there are multiple people all after her, and they might not all be in the same way. As time goes on, and Casey finds herself getting closer to each of them in ways she never expected, she learns a lot more about the world than she ever did before. Everyone has their own secrets, secrets they don't want anyone else discovering. Human lives are much more precious than she originally thought they were. She soon finds herself trapped in a vicious war that she wants nothing to do with, with danger attracted to her like a magnet. But what happens when she realises that something far more dangerous is at work; love? Well, I suppose that the only way to find the answer to that question is to take a dive into the deep end and join Casey on her journey. Not every story has a happy ending. ~ This is a story about love, and the power of friendship, that overcomes all obstacles, as cheesy as that sounds. One girl's destiny, although fatal, is the key to saving those around her from their inner turmoil. She has no idea just how important she really is, that she's the key to everyone else's happy ending.

"Go, go, go!" I yelled as we ran as fast as we could to the car. Handling herself much better under pressure, Elise hopped into the driver's seat as I sat in the passenger's seat. We breathlessly sat still in the warm car for a moment, trying to get ourselves back together as Elise turned the car on. My mind was whirring in excitement and nervousness combined. But I was free. That's all that mattered. "Hit the gas!" I commanded. She laughed and began pulling out of the parking lot. Goodbye motherfucker.
