"Let me promise you something. I will never ever let you go." I say as my beautiful horse gets taken from my arms. Her head drops low and he lets out a low nicker, as if to let me know he will miss me too. I smile at him, not because he is being taken from me, but because I know I will find him. One way or another. Melissa Snow is a popular, arrogant, mean girl who hates visiting her grandfather. Her life consists mainly of clothes, gossip and a lot of crazy selfies. But before she knows it, she is sent to live with her grandfather for a whole month; without malls, clothes and 'normal' people, how is Melissa going to cope? When she meets a beautiful yet timid and broken, paint gelding named Dakota, her cruel ways of life must change. For the sake of Dakota, and everyone else around her.

The Fagan family has always loved horses, and now they're making their lifelong dream a reality-starting a horse farm in Tennessee, specializing in race-bred Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds. The family consists of Mr. and Mrs. Fagan and their five children: fifteen-year-old Khloe, fourteen-year-old Noel, eight-year-old Nathan, and five-year-old twins Allie and Ariah. Khloe is heartbroken about leaving her home and friends in Kentucky, but the excitement of owning a horse farm-especially the chance to have a horse of her own-makes the move easier. She has dreamed of this moment for as long as she can remember. But there's one problem: her family's budget is tight, and they can only afford to buy mares for their breeding and training program. While accompanying her dad to a horse auction, Khloe stumbles upon a stunning dapple-gray Quarter Horse mare-her dream horse. But this mare isn't just wild-she's been abused, broken, and has lost all trust in humans. Now, Khloe faces two challenges: convincing her dad to buy the mare and, if she succeeds, proving to the frightened horse that they are meant to be. But with a horse this damaged, the journey won't be easy. Can Khloe earn the mare's trust, or will someone get hurt in the process?
