Months passed from when Agent 3 retrieved the zapfish. A young octoling named Emiko, who also becomes Agent 8, finds herself in a train station, finding Cap'n Cuttlefish awaiting her. As she ventures her way to the outside world, she meets the agent who saved Inkopolis from its fall. Emiko seems to grow this feeling in her chest.. and she wants to find out what it is.

It's been nine months since escaping the Deepsea Metro, defeating tar-tar, and saving Inkoplois things seemed to have finally calmed down for the team. Agent 8 now free is now living his new life on the surface, working, going on missions, and his favorite thing getting to spend time with 3. 3 is enjoying spending time with 8, but after going on a research mission in the Deepsea Metro she notices 8 acting strange.
