When Max first met Neil, he already knew he was gay. He knew that he liked boys and not girls, he also knew that he hadn't told anyone, he knew that his 'family' would not support him, and Max knew that he would probably never have a boyfriend because of it. But he also knew one other thing, he knew that the new kid, Neil, was adorable.

When Neil first met Max, he thought he was straight. He thought he liked girls and not boys. During Neil's first week at camp, he thought he had a fever because his face started getting really hot at random times. Neil thought that there was no way that he liked boys and he thought that one day he was going to marry a girl. But, he also thought one other thing, he thought that Max's smile was, undoubtedly, beautiful.
