Luckily she has allies: her bubbly roommate Ivy, her crush with a boy-next-door personality, Lucas, and her mentor, the mysterious Jace. Together, they try to crack the code on why these attacks might be happening.

Elemental magic is based upon the four core elements - Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Elemental magic is most prominent in England, where many mages gather to learn and research elemental magic. However, during the early 1500's, the Fire Outbreaks happened. Several various fire mages suddenly swept through and destroyed the smaller cities of England, killing many in their way and leaving no survivors. Due to this the Council of Magic, the governing figure of elemental magic, issued an act - The Anti-Fire Act. This effectively banned any and all use of fire magic within all of England. The Council of Magic was later changed to the Triumvirate in the 1540's, and from then on are set on killing off every last fire mage.
