It has been twenty five years since the Second Civil War nearly destroyed the country. Now, the government has required all citizens to undergo a surgery, known as the Procedure, at the age of fifteen. The Procedure is meant to encourage peace and mediate violent thoughts, but not everyone is so sure of it's true purpose. Five girls-- Shiloh, Nova, Bay, Em, and Rose-- have left their homes and lives behind to avoid the Procedure. They steal from the ruins of the East in order to survive, but in the process, have made themselves into known criminals. They know that they can’t stay hidden forever, and the time for making a plan is running out.

Barry's life
Two people fall in love in unlikely circumstances. They have a lot of psychological issues and mistrusts in the order of things to prevent them from finding themselves and each other. I am a reader of crime novels and hard science fiction almost exclusively, and yet this story, which I have been writing for a long time, is a love story, I can't explain it even to myself. The characters will have to work through hardship and evolve to be able to surrender to the magical things around them and the flow of the universe and the love of other people. This story still is a work in progress, it has holes and it is to be continued
