Ash Wilson acts like your stereotypical badboy. He has everything: the leather jacket, the bad grades, and most importantly the bad attitude. But what if it's all an act? Inside, Ash is broken, his heart shattered into a thousand pieces, his hope, once a burning flame, extinguished. Years of abuse have broken him down into the mere shell of the person he once was. He knows he doesn't have long left before he snaps, but no- one seems to be able to break through his walls.

Enter Sam Campbell, the not-so-typical star of the basketball team, and expert boxer. People love him, and he has become somewhat of an idol to the students of Blackridge High. He has perfect grades, a perfect family, and a perfect life. But he's lonely; he can never really be sure who is his friend, and who just wants to be popular, and he just wants one person to rely on.

It's no surprise that Ash and Sam have bad blood; they're almost naturally disposed to hate each other, yet when Sam finds Ash alone at his weakest moment, something changes.

With a newfound friendship unwillingly turning into something more, nothing is certain for these two boys. Will Ash finally find the happiness he deserves? And will this happiness include Sam?
