"What are you thinking Lyra? You can't do that, you know what that doctor said. You're going blind, you won't be able to see anything once you turn 13. How would you read words? Play instruments? Understand lyrics!?"

Crying, my eight year old self whispered softly, "I know I can do it. Please, I'll do anything until I'm 20 years old. Just let me do this one thing. Please trust me.."

My father sighed, obviously disappointed by my choice, but knew he couldn't win this fight.

"Alright then. I'll give you until you are 17 to prove that you have make a career out of music. If you can't I'm going to arrange you a marriage for when you are 19 years old. Understand?"

"Yes father." I whispered, feeling defeated yet proud that I had to chance to pursue music.



The question now was "Will I fail?"
