Maria spent last summer in Tulsa Oklahoma with her cousin Two-Bit, where she was sweet, innocent and friendly.  She fell in love with one of Two-Bits friends, a greaser. 
 
After a tragic accident that killed her parents, Maria decides to live with Two-Bit in Tulsa. It's been a year since she's been there and she's just about to start school. 

Maria gets closer to the gang and the events that they face as well as some personal issues with the Socs. Through the time that they spend together, they realize how much she's matured physically and how much she has changed mentally which really catches Dallas Winston's eye.
